Our Advanced Lomi Lomi Intensive Retreat is just around the corner!
Ancient Hawaiians believed that your “mana” or spiritual life force is held within your bones. Discover the “wisdom of the bones”, ancient teachings of how the emotional, spiritual nature of illness can be directly associated with different areas of the body. Learn the full-body art form of Lomi Lomi Massage and how to administer advanced techniques to address these issues.
Use hands, forearms, sticks, stones, knees and feet to release the body at its deepest level with the intention that as the physical body returns to improved alignment, that the spiritual/emotional body will also align.
In Advanced Lomi Lomi Intensive, we begin our journey by warming and opening the musculoskeletal system using methods covered in the Lomi Lomi Fundamentals course. This approach follows in the lineage of Big Island Style Lomi, intended to instill a level of skill necessary for proper assessment, palpation, and treatment of injury. Lomi Lomi Fundamentals is a multi-dimensional form of structural lomi incorporating concepts of Hawaiian spirituality, meditation techniques, and indigenous values addressing the whole person. We then focus on advanced techniques that create space in the joints of the spine and extremities for improved lubrication of the joints and structural alignment. Ancient Hawaiian teachings of the “wisdom of the bones” will fuel our work as we explore the spiritual and emotional aspects of illness as it pertains to different areas of the body. Learn how to use various tools and advanced techniques to follow symptoms to their source and heal the body at a deep and holistic level. In the final course, learn the profound impact of Kua Lua Hawaiian Back Walking, a method deeply rooted in ancestral lineage and physical alignment.
All Lomi Lomi courses are taught by Jeana Iwalani Naluai, MPT, LMT and her team of lomi specialists. Through talk-story, demonstration, and hands-on practice, students will experience this foundational learning in a rich way. Our instructor’s knowledge is passed down through a long lineage of master practitioners. The various lomi courses provide a learning environment with extensive and effective lomi techniques, the Hawaiian philosophy of Ho’oponopono, meditation and chant. Ho’omana Spa Maui is dedicated to the development of each student’s mind, body and spirit while ensuring a supportive and quality learning experience that inspires transformation.

Lomi Lomi Courses
Lomi Lomi Fundamentals (4 days, 33 C.E. hours, includes Sacred Sites Tour)
Students will learn an ancient, full body form of Hawaiian massage that addresses musculo-skeletal imbalances and limited range of motion or dysfunction– both specific and therapeutic in its application. This course is the foundational work for all classes taught at Ho’omana Spa Maui. Lomi Lomi Fundamentals offers students concepts and tools to help increase receptivity to intuitive guidance, such as Hawaiian meditation techniques, healing chants and prayers, Ho’oponopono, and guided tours of some of Maui’s most sacred sites.
Advanced Core & Extremities (7 days, 60 C.E. hours, includes Sacred Sites Tour)
The circulation of nutrients from the blood, elimination of waste products in lymphatics, and communication of the central to peripheral nervous system are each dependent upon open pathways in these body systems. Once core musculature has been flushed and the drains of circulation opened, the extremities are free to flush toxins as well. This course places emphasis on following the symptom to its source, ultimately assisting in increasing flexibility and using subtle positioning to bring the body back into optimal alignment, from the tips of the fingers to the toes.
Kua Lua Hawaiian Back Walking (3 days, 24 C.E. hours)
Learn to work with your feet in the way you feel with your hands. The kua, or spine, represents your soul lineage in this lifetime and beyond. Each vertebra represents a generation upon which we stand upright and are supported by. Kua Lua uses depth of pressure, breath, and physical alignment to release and restore the body in a transformational way.
Sacred Sites Tours: Explore Maui’s rich culture through legend and lore in a talk story style. We will visit the island’s most sacred energetic areas. Iao Valley and various heiau (traditional Hawaiian temples) are just few sites on our tour. On the first tour we will be learning about plant medicine, ritual cleansing both at the mountain and the ocean visiting sacred Heiau (Hawaiian Temples). The second tour will bring us to Maui’s magical Northwest shoreline to explore Hawaiian temples and sacred wahipana that house our kupuna iwi ancestral bones.
